Twitter share count, once broken, now fixed

The Twitter share count feature that went offline and remained for a few weeks has been fixed. The counter that's used by hundreds of thousands of websites on the internet was disabled by Twitter.

We've since switched to a different mechanism to obtain the share count from the microblogging website.

Thank you for bearing with us as we worked to remove this minor issue that resulted from Twitter's actions.

It is wonderful to see that the Twitter share counter has been restored to its previous state. In spite of the fact that these figures might schoolboy runaway not seem like much, they make a major contribution to the level of engagement and credibility that blog posts inspire.
